Thomas Scott was a merchant who settled in Launceston in 1820. He lived at Springfield and was often referred to as Thomas Scott the Elder or old Mr Scott, perhaps to avoid confusion with Thomas Scott the surveyor (NG1017) who also has conncetions with the north of the State but who subsequently returned to Scotland
