William Kermode (1780-1852) was a merchant and settler. Born in Port Erin, Isle of Mann, he married Anne Quayle in 1810. He made several trips to the colonies before settling in Van Diemen's Land.;;In 1821 he was granted 2000 acres of land near Ross. In 1824 he was granted a further 1000 acres and bought 2000 more which built up his estate, later Mona Vale. ;;William Kermode's son, Robert Quayle Kermode (1812-1870), joined him in the colony in 1827 and they worked together to build the farming estate.;;William and Robert were both appointed members of the Legislative Council. Robert also later served in the House of Assembly.;;Robert married Martha Archer, daughter of Thomas Archer of Brickendon, Longford and sister of William Archer, the architect of the house Mona Vale.;;;;
