John Reynolds supported the Tasmanian Historical Research Association from its earliest days and was Chairman on two occasions in 1956 and 1965. John traces his interest in history back to his childhood when his father, Henry Reynolds, a public servant took him to political meetings and introduced him to notable figures in State and National affairs. This interest developed further when he went to Hobart High School.;;To earn a living John worked first as an apprentice at the E Z Co. and later moved into the Public Service becoming an Advisor to Government especially during the Premiership of Robert Cosgrove.
