Description:
Oakden was a merchant, banker, land holder and Wesleyan. He arrived in Launceston, Tasmania, on the ship Forth in Nov 1833 and in 1839 married Georgiana Cowie, the daughter of George Cowie, a London alderman and sister of Robert Cowie of "Brookstead" Avoca. He died on 31 July 1851.
