The family in Tasmania comprised children of George and Rachael Cowie - Robert, John Anthony, Emma, Jane, Georgiana and Mary. Robert arrived on the Sarah in June 1828 and John Anthony arrived on the Duckenfield in May 1834. Rachael and her daughters arrived in Tasmania on the Eveline on 7 December 1834. Georgiana married Phillip Oakden in 1839.;;;;Robert Cowie settled at "Brookstead" on the St Paul's River near Avoca and married Julianna (nee Luthman). Their children were Julia (born 1833, Emily (1835 - 1912 - Mrs Edwin Bowring), Mary (1837 - 1928 - Mrs Charles Nichols. Their son Septimus Nichols (1870 - 1950) married Elvira Mary Smith, the daughter of merchant C.H.Smith of Launceston in 1895 and farmed 'Palmerston' Cressy.).
