Description:
The Hobart Stock Exchange was incorporated in 1882 to provide capital for local business ventures, especially in the mining sector. With the forming of the Australian Stock Exchange in April 1987, the six independent stock exchanges of the capital cities were amalgamated. The Hobart Stock Exchange operated as a subsidiary exchange to the Australian Stock Exchange, with nine Tasmanian companies listed on it.
