Description:
Sir John Eardley - Wilmot was born on the 21/2/1783 in London. After a career in law he was appointed Lieut Governor of Van Diemen's Land in 1843. After two tumultuous years including controversy over the failure of the Convict Probation system and a constitutional crisis Eardley -Wilmot was recalled. He remained in Hobart and died on the 3/2/1847.
