Description:
The YMCA is part of an international movement, the initial aim of which was to develop a 'healthy spirit, mind and body' by providing activities such as meetings, lectures, debates, bible studies, concerts and sporting games. It was open to all boys and young men. Like many of the branches world wide it gradually developed into a sporting and recreational body and the emphasis on moral and spiritual enlightenment receded.
