In 1966 Roger Wallace formed his company in partnership with his wife, Elsa Margaret Wallace and Don Johnson. The Company was based in Exeter, West Tamar and its work extended from Falmouth to Bothwell and along the North West Coast as far as Woolnorth and included crop, pasture and ditch spraying as well as animal spraying such as cattle for lice. The Company also had considerable contracts for the eradication of cotton thistle in the Longford and Ross municipalities. Mr Wallace had been working with agricultural chemicals since they were used in quantity in Australia. He has a Bachelor of Agricultural Science degree from Nottingham University and he came to Tasmania in 1951 and worked on a West Tamar farm before becoming a rural chemical salesman for a Launceston agricultural supplies firm. After three years he became I.C.I.'s Launceston representative which he remained for 11 years till the present partnership was formed. Donald Johnston, a Tasmanian, has lived on a West Tamar farm all his life and has past experience as a builder and as a designer and builder of boats.
