By the late 1920's the Church of England was looking to expand its committment to the community by establising a church hospital. A Committee headed by the Hobart Archdeacon was set up to investigate the feasability - after more than a year of research the Committee reported that an opportunity existed to merge with the Hobart Homeopathic Hospital. The arrangements involved the settlement of the debts of the Hospital in return for the building and hospital infrastructure passing to the church. This happened in 1930
