Michael Polek was born in Poland in 1914 and came to Tasmania in about 1948. He had been in the army in Poland and had worked as a carpenter and policeman. He worked for the Hydro Elelctric Commission at Tarraleah and purchased a house in Bathurst Street, Hobart. He was single at the time of his death.
