The Australian Plants Society Tasmania Inc. aims to foster the propagation, cultivation and conservation of plants native to Australia. The Society is the Tasmanian branch of the national 'Society for Growing Australian Plants'. The Society holds regular meetings, events, plant sales, and develops publications. Since 1994 the Australian Plant Society Tasmanian Inc. has published the newsletter 'Eucryphia'. ;;This Society for Growing Australian Plants was originally formed in Victoria in 1957 by Mr. AJ Swaby. A 'Southern Tasmanian Local Group' of the Society was formed at an inaugural meeting on 30 November 1968. Initially it operated as part of the Victoria Region. In May 1971 the first meeting of the Tasmanian Region was held. A northern group was formed in 1978, and one in Kingbourough in 1993. A north western group is also in operation.;;The name 'Society for Growing Australian Plants Tasmanian Region Inc' was retained until 16 April 1999 when the name 'Australian Plants Society Tasmania Incorporated' was registered.
