The Old Hobartian Association (OHA) was formed in June 1915 under the Presidency of Mr P. H. Mitchell, the founding headmaster of the school.;;;;OHA soon became a strong and influential organisation in the Hobart community, generating sporting, social and cultural adivities and establishing affiliated organisations some of which have endured.;;;;The golden years of the organisation were also the 'dancing years'. The club leased the Belvedere ballroom, 36 Argyle Street, Hobart. OHA leased the building in 1937,;;;;The Belvedere was the hub of the social world for Hobart teenagers in general and Hobart High School students in particular. This was the big band era and ballroom dancing was considered to be an essential social skill. Mrs. Donnelly taught dancing on Friday evenings and Theo Pipkin's orchestra provided music throughout the week as the students developed close personal relationships.
