Despite the name this company was registered in South Australia to take over the rights conferred on the Great Western Railway and Electric Ore Reduction Company by an 1896 Act of the Tasmanian Parliament (60 Vict. Private Act). ;;;;The company appointed a Tasmanian agent, the Hobart law firm of Russell Young and Butler, on 24 May 1898.;;;;Staff were employed and surveyed a line from the Tasmanian Government Railway at Glenora to Zeehan but the company was unable to raise the capital (in London) to build the line. The State Government took an action for forfeiture of the rights in the Supreme Court in 1903 although the Company maintained its interest in the project for some years thereafter.
