The Mount Canopus Water Scheme (MCWS) was created in 1977 as a private company in association with a new subdivision along Centarui Drive, Mount Rumney. In 2003 the Company was unable to obtain public liability insurance at a reasonable cost and, after months of negotiations, was sold to the City of Clarence, effective 1 December 2004.;;The shareholders agreed to deposit the company records in the Archives Office in February 2004.
