The Chartered Institute of Transport was established in Britain in 1919 and has expanded to 30 countries. It merged with the Institute of Logistics in 1999.;;;;The Chartered Institute of Transport in Australia Inc. was formed in 1935 and a Tasmanian Section was formed some time after the Second World War. The membership peaked at about 120 in the 1990s and there are currently only 30 Tasmanian members.
