Trevor Claude James was born in Launceston on 21 June 1903 to Claude and Alice James. He went to school in Launceston and then studied medicine at Melbourne University. Later on he returned to Tasmania to work at the Launceston General Hospital. On 11 February 1930, he married Molly Mary Wilmot Chepmell (Molly) Blyth (b.15 June 1904) and they had five children: Ian, Suzanne, Thorva and Sholto and Robert. The family moved to Queenstown in July 1937 where Trevor worked as Medical Superintendent. In 1946 the family moved to Hobart and Trevor established a private medical practice. Trevor's interests included music, photography and gardening and he was a keen amateur movie-maker. He was one of the first people in Tasmania to take 35mm Kodachrome slides and 8mm movies. He died on 17 August, 1983 and his wife Molly died in 1995.
