Jacobina Burn (1763-1851) nee Hunter was born in Edinburgh. She was granted land in Van Diemen's Land, taking it near Hamilton and calling it Ellengowan (1821). ;;;;The widow of David Burn (1758-1798), a marble cutter of Edinburgh, Jacobina arrived in Van Demen's Land on the 'Westmoreland' on 5 May 1821. Her son David arrived in September 1824 with his small daughter Jemima Francis Burn (1822-1919) (later Irvine), leaving his wife behind in Scotland. In 1832 he married a second time to Catherine Fenton.;;;;Jacobina died at Bothwell on 10 January 1851 and is said to be buried in the private cemetery at Dennistoun, Bothwell beside her aboriginal maid.
