The Launceston Competitions Association Inc was established in 1902. The first grand annual literary and musical competitions and competitive art exhibition was held at the Albert Hall on 13-17 April 1903. The book "A century of the competitions: a history of the Launceston Competitions Association Inc, 1902-2002" by Peter G Webb was published in 2002.
