Miller Thomas Wilkes Monds (1829-1916) was the oldest son of Thomas Monds (1797-1838) of Stepney, London. T. W. Monds married Angelina Hall in 1852. In 1867 he bought the stone mill at Carrick. In 1874 he built Hawthorn, a fine Gothic house, and the adjoining farm of Hattondale, working its 1200 acres (486 ha) in conjunction with the mill. Later he took into partnership his second son Albert, who in 1898 married Fanny Robertson. ;;His daughter Mary Ann (Minnie) Monds was born on 24 June 1857, a daughter of Thomas Wilkes Monds (1829-1916) and Angelina Hall (c.1830-1905) who married in 1852. Minnie married Rev William Dawson on 28 March 1883 at Westbury. The had two children - Florence in 1884 and William Gordon in 1885. Minnie died at 171 St John Street, Launceston, on 27 March 1914.;;;;;;
