Description:
Charles Edward Stanley was the son of the Lord Bishop of Norwich and nephew of Lord Stanley. He entered the Royal Engineers in 1836. He and his wife, Eliza Dolly, arrived in Tasmania in 1847 on board the "Windermere". He was appointed Private Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor in 1847 until 1849. He died aged 30 on the 13 August 1849, in Hobart of gastroenteritis.
