Arthur Augustus Stephens, educationist, was born on 21 March 1867 and completed a B.A from London in 1904. In 1886 he established the New Town Classical and Commercial School which, within four years, merged with Officer College, Hobart. In July 1893 he opened Queen's College in Hobart, its main object being to prepare pupils for university examinations. This College amalgamated in 1912 with Hutchins School and Stephens was vice master there until his death in 1914.
