Frederic Thomas Holmes, a pharmaceutical chemist, was the eldest son of Frederic Holmes and his first wife Emma Letitia Robinson. He was born at Launceston on 13 November 1875. Frederic became a partner with his father at the Hatton and Laws chemist shops at 104 and 146 Brisbane Street, Launceston. His two younger half-brothers, Charles Osborne Holmes and Louis Angior Holmes, joined the firm later. Their mother was a sister of Frederic junior's mother.;;;;Frederic Thomas married Lillian Maud Rawlings Osborne in Brisbane on 11 September 1901. They had five children - Evelyn, Percy Frederic (1904), twins Dorothy Emma and Vera Lillian (1906) and Lorraine Osborne (1916). Lillian died aged 83 on 9 September 1957. Frederic Thomas died on 25 April 1972 aged 96. They were buried together at the Carr Villa Memorial Park.
