Description:
The son of a Leeds merchant, John W. Hardwick came to Australia in 1852. He travelled around Victoria, Tasmania and NSW, completing many painted sketches along the way. Hardwick settled at Rylstone in NSW where he established a general store. He died at Ryde in 1891.
