The Bungawitta Child Care Centre (Tasmanian Aboriginal word for the place of little possums) was established in 1986 under the auspice of the East Tamar Child Care Centre Inc. Located at 15 Woodland Grove, Newnham, the community-based child care centre is near the University and Polytechnic. The building, designed by award-winning architect Robert Morris-Nunn, was unique at the time in its child-focussed design.;;;;The centre is supported by a Board of Management made up of parents from the centre and other community members.
