Description:
Mrs Rosetta Pulver was the widow of the late Reverend Isaac Pulver, a Rabbi and Pawn-broker from Kalisch in Prussian occupied Poland. The Pulvers lived in numerous locations (including Cheltenham England and Melbourne, Australia) before emigrating to Tasmania in 1871. Isaac Pulver worked as a Rabbi at the Jewish Synagogue in Hobart and as a Pawn-Broker at 154 Liverpool Street. When Isaac died on 9 May 1873 Rosetta took over the business and was assisted by her daughter Merinda and son Louis (b. 1855). Newspaper advertisements indicate that the business was formally closed on 27 July 1875, and that Mrs Pulver was leaving the colony in due course.;;Rosetta died in Victoria in 1883.
