The Tasmanian Library Assocation was established in May 1928, as part of moves to form a Federal Library Association. With Professor E. Morris Miller as President, the Association was active in promoting the Carnegie Corporation's 1934 survey of Australian libraries that led to the formation of the Free Library Movement.
