Description:
Andrew Bell Morrison (1888-1954) was a nephew of Edward Ellice Morrison (1858-1933), a member of the Scottish Agricultural Commission that visited Australia in 1910. Andrew emigrated to Victoria in 1924 with his wife Ann (1888-1971) and their children Rae Margaret (1918-) and James Bruce (1920-1970). A third child, Ian Richard (1928-1981), was born in Australia.;;In 1927, Andrew was appointed Assistant Manager of the Van Diemen's Land Company. He managed the company's pastoral operations (particularly Woolnorth) while the Manager, A K McGaw, concentrated on plans for the development of a paper mill in Burnie. McGaw's health deteriorated during the 1940s, and Morrison's role expanded; he was formally appointed Manager in 1947.;;Rae worked as a nurse, and later ran a small dairy farm. Bruce served in the 2/40 Battalion in the Second World War, and later became a real estate agent in Burnie. Richard pursued a career in banking, which took him interstate.;;
