Description:
Established for the diagnosis of mental deficiency, the classification of mentally defective and other children, the instruction of teachers of special and other classes, and the study of mental deficiency.;;;;The role of the clinic was expanded to include pre-trial and pre-release psychiatric assessments of prisoners, eligibility for invalid pensions and babies being considered for adoption.;;;;Although it continued to operate as a base its statutory existence ended (along with that of the Mental Deficiency Board) in December 1964 and the roles performed by the staff were diffused throughout a restructured Division of Psychiatric Services.
