Description:

In 1993, as part of the reorganisation of local government in Tasmania, Longford was amalgamated with Evandale, Campbell Town, Ross and part of Fingal to form the new municipality of Northern Midlands.

Legislation Creating:

Established by the Rural Municipalities Act 21 Vict No.50 1858, Proclamation 27.1.1862 (HTG 28.1.1862) and reconstituted by the Local Government Act 1906 6 Edw VII No.31, (Pro. 19.8.1907 HTG 27.8.1907).
