Description:
"The implementation of policy in respect of the staffing, administration and operation of the State Service" including co-ordination of management practices and standards, personnel classification standards and training, provision of advice on organisation structure and efficiency. As part of the reorganisation of the Tasmanian State Service the Department assumed the functions of the former Public Service Board. The service was again reorganised on 17 July 1989. The Management Services Division of DPA was transferred to the new Department of Administrative Service. The remainder of the Department was integrated into the restructured Department of Premier and Cabinet, the formal amalgamation taking place on 1 Jul 1990.~
