Description:
The Board comprised seven members, all registered pharmacists, serving staggered three year terms, with annual elections at which all registered pharmacists were eligible to vote. The Board elected one of their number as President each year and fill any casual vacancies. The quorum was three.;;;;The Board provided information and programs of education, controled practical examinations and registered both pharmacists and retail pharmacies (but not those in hospitals). An alphabetical list of all registered pharmacists, giving their place of business and date of registration, was published in the Tasmanian Government Gazette each year and any names added to or removed from the Register during the course of the year were similarly notified.;;;;The Board could refuse registration if the applicant was not suitably qualified but such refusal could be appealed to the Supreme Court. The Board had the power to investigate and discipline pharmacists and reprimand them, fine them or suspend their registration. Pharmacists could be removed from the Register on death (notified to the Board by the Registrar-General) or lack of contact (ie: failure to respond to a letter from the Board after six months).;;;;From 1 July 2010 the regulation of Pharmacists was transferred to the Pharmacy Board of Australia following amendments to the Pharmacists Registration Act 2001. Pharmacy ownership and registration of pharmacy premises continued to be administered by the Pharmacy Board of Tasmania. ;;;;The Pharmacy Board ceased operations in January 2011. ;;;;
