Description:
To co-ordinate, regulate and control all forms of transport in Tasmania, other than rail services and services operated by the Metropolitan Transport Trust; control of traffic engineering and the Precision Tool Annexe. As part of a general re-organisation of the Tasmanian State Service the Transport Department began to integrate its operation with the Department of Roads and Transport after July 1989, formal amalgamation occurring on 1 July 1990.
