Description:
To provide hospital and medical services for the Ulverstone District. The Ulverstone Benevolent Society Hospital, established in 1906, was taken over by the State Government in January 1910 (CSD22/99/187 and CSD22/144//157). The hospital was administered by a Board of Management until 1949. In December 1949 the private Levenbank Maternity Hospital was merged with Ulverstone District Hospital and a District Board was proclaimed under the Hospitals Act to administer the enlarged Ulverstone District Hospital.~
