Description:
On November 14th 1912 the Premier A.E.Solomon moved in the Tasmanian Parliament that a Royal Commission be set up to inquire into the North Lyell Mine disaster. Forty-two men lost their lives in the disaster which occured at the mine on October 12th 1911. The Commission brought down its final report to Parliament on January 22nd 1913. As a consequence, the Minister commissioned A Montgomery to conduct a report into the conduct of the North Lyell Mining Company. His report was released in May 1913.
