Description:
Take measures for the prevention of disease epidemics, especially through inspection and regulation of cemeteries, domestic and public sanitation, drains, abbatoirs, stables, pig-keeping, offensive trades, food sales and rubbish removal. Report infectious diseases. The Health District of New Town was proclaimed 9 May 1887 (HTG 10 May p.770) but the members may have met earlier as at least one died and was replaced before the District was proclaimed (see HTG 3 Aug 1886 p.1222).~
