Description:
Corrective Services administers State prisons and the Adult Probation and Parole Service. To reflect changing social and political attitudes, and the fact that it once again administered the Probation and Parole Service, the name of the Prisons Division was changed to Corrective Services Division on 6 Apr 1987. On 17 Jul 1989, as part of a general reorganisation of the State Service, the Division became part of the Department of Community Services. On 18 February 1992, following a change of government, the Division was transferred to the Department of Justice.;;;;Subsequently the Corrective Services Division became known as Corrective Services Tasmania. Corrective Services now provides community and custodial correctional services through Community Corrections and the Prison Service. Corrective Services also provides secretarial and administrative support to the independent Parole Board.;;;;
