The Racing & Gaming Act 1974 reconstituted the Tasmanian Racing Commission as the Tasmanian Racing & Gaming Commission.;;;;The Commission regulated racing and betting, researched and investigated the racing and gaming industries, heard appeals against the decisions of stewards in all forms of racing and determined the racing calendar. It also administered the Distressed and Disabled Jockeys Fund, licenced bookmakers and totalisator agencies, inspected casino operations and licenced games of chance.The Commission was reconstituted in 1974 to increase its full-time membership and some of its former functions were transferred to a Tasmanian Racing Trust. ;;;;Under the Racing & Gaming Amendment Act (No. 2) 1983 the Commission was succeeded by a Tasmanian Gaming Commission and its racing responsibilities were transferred to a Tasmanian Racing Directorate.
