Description:
Circular Head was removed from Spencer District by an Order-in-Council dated 19 July 1950. Statutory Rule 1968 Number 112, dated 16 July, renamed the Public Hospital a District Hospital and transferred management of the Redpa District Nursing Centre from the Department to the Board. As an interim step in the re-organisation of the State's health services Smithton was amalgamated with Ulverstone, Mersey and Burnie/Wynyard on 12 January 1989 to form the North West Regional Public Hospitals District (SR1989/1).~
