Description:
The first school in Cressy opened in 1863. Cressy State School began with an enrolment of 71 pupils. Between 1933 and 1938, the school moved to its present site on 5 acres of land. In May 1955 the newly renamed Cressy Area School was destroyed by fire. The school was rebuilt and the foundation stone of the new school was laid on 26 Ocotber 1956. The school continued to expand and enrolments grew from 305 in 1957 to 494 in 1963, the centenary year of the school's establishment. By then, the name had been changed to Cressy District High School.
