Description:
Branxholm School was opened 1 April 1885 with 28 children on rolls and closed in 1886. The school re-opened 31 March 1890. In the interim the school was a half-time school with Brothers' Home School at Derby having the other half of the teacher's time. (Annual reports);;.;;After urgent representations by Mr. T. Bakhap, M.H.A., the Minister for Education has approved of the erection of a new school at Branxholm to accommodate over 120 children. (Daily Post, 1910);;;;;;Branxholm Primary School in Tasmania's north-east was closed and the students moved to Winnaleah District High School. (Education Department Annual Report, 2009-10)
