The Corporation was established to perform the roles of the Private Forestry division of the former Forestry department (itself made a corporation) and the Private Forestry Council. The Board of the Corporation has a similar membership to that of the former Council. Its role is to facilitate and expand the development of the private forest resource in Tasmania in a manner which is consistent with sound forest land management practice.
