Description:
The task of Tourism Tasmania is to maximise the economic and social benefits of tourism for the State by fostering a sustainable tourism industry. Tourism Tasmania operated under direct Ministerial control until 18 September 1998. As part of a general reorganisation of the State Service following a change of government it became a division of the Department of State Development.;;It is governed by a seven member board appointed by the Governor or on the recommendation of the minister.;;;;On 1 July 2014 Tourism Tasmania became a seperate authority within the State Service.
