Description:
The Office was created to cope with the increase in staff and workload within the Department of Premier and Cabinet devoted to management of the State Service following the abolition of the Department of Administrative Services and Consumer Affairs. As the management functions were increasingly devolved to State Service agencies the staff levels fell and the work was increasingly subsumed into the general role of the Department. PSMO as a separate agency was formally abolished on 27 March 1996 (SR1996/31).~
