Description:
Originally established as the Aboriginal Affairs Section within the Department of Community Welfare. The section was transferred to the Department of Premier and Cabinet on 17 July 1989 and renamed on 18 April 1994. It was incorporated into the Community Development role of the Department of Education on 27 March 1996 before being returned to the Department of Premier and Cabinet on 18 September 1998 as part of a rearrangement of the Sate Service following a change of government. As of August 2022 the Office sits within the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
