Description:
Child, Youth and Family Support services are directed at improving the safety and wellbeing of individuals, children, young people and families. These services are delivered through:;;- early intervention services directed at enabling people to manage their own health and wellbeing and preventing them from requiring more specialist services,;;- preventative services that are available to clients assessed as vulnerable or at risk and who require support, and ;;- high level intervention and support services such as the statutory elements of the child protection, out-of-home care and juvenile justice services mandated by legislation. ;;;;The division is divided into three service delivery units, as follows.;;Child and Family Services provides safe, responsive and therapeutic environments for children who are unable to live with their families. Services include out-of-home care (foster carers), case management of wards of state, approved children's homes (residential care services), carer support (home based care services), challenging behaviours programs, and the child welfare information system. The service provides assistance in the provision of care and protection for children, with an emphasis on prevention by supporting and strengthening families. Services include community sector programs and assessment and protection services. There are also support and accommodation services for families and individuals in crisis, including victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. ;;;;The Adoption and Information Service locates secure permanent families for children unable to remain in the care of their birth family, and provides a counselling and information service for adopted people, their birth families and adoptive families. ;;;;Youth Justice works to assist young people in conflict with the law to be law abiding through the provision of supervision, support and custodial services. Services include community based youth justice, youth custodial services (Ashley Youth Detention Centre), reintegration support, and integrated case management. ;;
