The Office receives claims of discrimination and prohibited conduct, investigates and conciliates them, and refers unconciliated claims to the Anti-Discrimination Tribunal for public hearing.;;;;From 10 November 2015 the Office of the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner was renamed Equal Opportunity Tasmania.;;;;The purpose of the change in name was to better reflect the scope of work undertaken by the Commissioner's office, encourage public awareness of functions beyond those related to complaints; and communicate a broader role in promoting practices of equality opportunity and inclusion. The name change did not change the functions of the Anti-Discrimination Commissioner or the work of the office.
