Description:
The Department's roles included leading industry and community development, delivering marketing and development programs for Tasmanian tourism and providing policy and planning for Tasmanian arts and culture. The Department advised companies wishing to establish, relocate, diversify or expand in Tasmania; linked government and the private sector in marketing Tasmania's assets; provided funding to events, artists and arts organisations; supported the development and maintenance of the State's cultural heritage collections; and aimed to ensure that all Tasmanians have the opportunity to participate in sport, recreation and physical activity. The Department was merged with the Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Resources on 1 July 2014 to form the Department of State Growth.
