Description:
LINC Tasmania encompassed Learning and Information Network Centres (LINCs) and the Tasmanian Archive and Heritage Office (TAHO). Services included: library facilities, research and information, adult literacy support, community learning, online access and the archive and heritage service. Pioneered in 2005 at the Huon LINC, LINC Tasmania brought together libraries, online access centres, Adult Education and the Tasmanian Archive and Heritage Office (TAHO) that were collectively known as the Community Knowledge Network (CKN). While the LINC Tasmania name was originally introduced to convey the range of services and programs available, other libary services around the world were increasingly offering these without the need to incorporate a name change. The Government made a commitment to restore Libraries to the name of the organisation at the March 2018 election, and as a result LINC Tasmania was renamed Libaries Tasmania.
