Description:
St Giles School catered for children with physical disabilities aged 3 to 18. The Department of Education was involved the organising, teaching, and the curriculum of the school. The school's registration was 719C. The St Giles Home and the Society for the Care of Crippled Children owned the building and had a heavy involvement in the life of the school.;;In 1931 classes where held in the Launceston General Hospital. In 1941, a ward at St Giles' Home was taken over for teaching. A special classroom was built in 1943 and it became known as the St Giles' Hospital Class (St Giles Hospital School). By 1959 a new school was built and the Hospital Class became St Giles' School.;;The Department of Education built a new school in 1984 and officially took over the school, and a few years later it was renamed Newstead Heights School.;;
